As the largest and fastest-growing industry in the nation, the health care industry employs over 10 million workers in a myriad of meaningful careers. Moreover, additional people will be needed to meet the demand for skilled, compassionate health care workers as the number of aging Americans continues to grow.

Tulsa Tech’s Health Science Cluster prepares students for well-paying careers that promote health and wellness, prevent and treat injuries and disease and make a difference in people’s lives. You may follow a pathway that enables you to work directly with patients, while other pathways will lead to you a supportive role on a specialized medical team, in a medical office or in a pharmacy.

If you are considering a career in health sciences, you will benefit from solid communication skills, science skills, attention to detail and a desire to help or work with people. This cluster of career pathways provides stability and room for advancement, with the opportunity to change lives – including your own.
  • Dental Assistant
    If you are interested in dentistry and want a good-paying job in a high-demand area, Tulsa Tech’s Dental Assistant program can help you build a foundation for advancement in dentistry.
  • EMT Basic & Paramedic
    While the program is intended to prepare you for work with a basic life support or limited advanced life support ambulance service, you will also be prepared to perform basic emergency care in other settings.
  • Health Science Technology
    Not only will you get an overview of occupations in the health care field, but also study medical ethics, communication skills, legal issues, medical terminology and anatomy and physiology of the human body.
  • Medical Assistant
    This well-rounded course will also teach you how to assist in the examination room, run tests, take vital signs of patients, administering injections and performing blood draw.
  • Nurse Aide
    After completing the Nurse Assistant course, you may test for state certification, enter employment as a valued Nurse Assistant, apply for the Licensed Practical Nursing program, or apply for an R.N. Associate Degree or beyond.
  • Nursing & Health Related Options
    At the end of one semester, you will be eligible for state certification in the areas of Long-Term Care Nurse Assisting, Home Health Aide and Adult Day Care.
  • Pharmacy Technician
    Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists provide medication and other healthcare products to patients in hospitals and in the community.
  • Practical Nursing
    Through hands-on training, you will develop the basic nursing skills necessary to care for individuals throughout the health and wellness continuum.Please click here for the Practical Nursing Handbook
  • Radiologic Technology
    In addition to learning radiation exposure factors, you will know how to position patients, choose the correct image receptor size and exposure factors, and provide protection for yourself and the patient.
  • Sports Medicine & Therapeutic Care
    The program includes course work and practical hands-on applications in the following areas: prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries, taping and wrapping of injuries, first aid/CPR, emergency procedures, nutrition, Anatomy in Clay, anatomy and physiology, fitness/conditioning/strength programs and sports medicine careers.
  • Surgical Technology
    To prepare for being a member of a surgical team delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery, you will learn basic sciences, how to prepare and maintain a sterile environment, care and use of supplies and equipment and basic patient care.
  • Vision Care Technology
    After completion of the program, you will have the ability to enter the workforce as well as to sit for certification examinations such as Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (C.O.A.).
